Zara meets the Gods

Somewhere in a realm that the average mortal can't see, there stood a beautiful and massive temple. The temple was home to the Gods, built by the eldest God and ruler of them all, Nexdis, God of Time. The gold walls reached farther than possible and appeared to have a steampunk-themed architecture. The entrance had two separate gardens, one covered in many different plants, many of which were different kinds of flowers. This belonged to the Goddess of Life, Deena. The second garden belongs to her twin sister, Urona, Goddess of Death. It has gravestones and different kinds of skulls around every corner. The sky above the temple had both a sun and moon for the twins Hados and Devolt, God and Goddess of Sun and Moon. The sky also had golden stars as far as the eye could see, this was for the God of Star, Rynir. The entire temple had several flames to light the insides provided by the Fire Goddess, Edphy. The ceiling inside the temple had clouds with lightning and thunder booming with sound, you could thank Rhilo, the God of Lightning for that idea. In the center of the floor, there was a fountain full of water, and the sides had ice sculptures for the twin Goddess and God Water and Ice, Nyphton, and Withos.

A very tall figure appears out of a swarm of clocks, Nexdis. The Time God walks to the temple carrying a small child. "There, there darling! Everything is gonna be ok," he says softly in his radio-like voice to the child. "None of the bad humans will hurt you, not while we're watching, of course!"

The child looks up at him, this child is the Dragon Queen, Zara. Born from the humans and blessed by the gods, The Mother of Dragons. She wiped the tears from her eyes, though it did nothing to stop the tears from continuing. Fresh purple blood dropped from her hand where she had been cut just before the God saved her. "You promise?" She spoke in a hushed and voice-broken tone.

"Yes, dear. You are safe here, and with a little time, you will be strong enough to stand on your own. Fight whatever evil comes your way! Until that time comes, you can rest knowing you won't have to suffer like that!"

Zara sniffles, her sobs calming down. She nods to the God and nuzzles in his chest. "I promise I'll be strong this time! I won't fail to save anyone ever again!"

The God holds her close. "My, that's quite a bold statement! I must tell you though, failure is a part of life! Just ask Auntie Deena! My dear, even yours truly has made mistakes!"

She looks up, her eyes wide with surprise. "What? You? But you're the Time God? Don't you know everything?"

Nexdis laughs. "Well, I don't know about everything darling but yes, even me. Mistakes are what makes strength happen! Without failure how are you supposed to learn how to be better? That's what matters the most! Learning from them!"

"Learning?"

"Precisely! What did you learn today?"

She thought for a moment. "That... Anger makes things worse?"

"Hmm, not quite. Anger isn't always a bad thing. Don't worry my little Dragon Warrior! Time will tell you what you need to know when you need it the most!" He kissed her head softly. "Now let's get you cleaned up and then maybe some food? You hungry?"

Zara perked up. "Yes, please!"

"Haha! Alright!" He held his head up again and walked into the Godly Temple. “Children, here please!” Nexdis yelled.

Deena and Devolt were the first to appear, Urona, Withos, and Hados were shortly after. Then Rynir and Nyphton. Vamir and Kava Natris stubbornly dragged their feet over.

A few minutes pass and Nexdis sighs. “EDPHY, RHILO!” Zara flitched and Nexdis patted her head. “Sorry, dear.”

Suddenly, Rhilo and Edphy appeared. “Sorry! Time!” They both panicked.

“It's fine. Just come when you’re called next time.” Nexdis cleared his throat. “Everyone, I called you here today to formally introduce our special guest. You all remember Zara?”

The Gods all got excited as they admired the little dragon hybrid in the Time God’s arms.

“Of course we do! Why would we forget our collective child? Who do you take us for Nexdis?” Deena scoffed.

“Oh damn! Our Dragon Princess in the flesh?” Edphy held her hands to her hips.

“She looks injured..” Urona softly said.

“Oh no! She is!!” Deena ran up to her with a worried expression on her face.

Zara looked startled at first but then relaxed when the Goddess slowly and carefully took her into her arms. Her touch was gentle and warm, Zara melted into Deena. It was then that Zara actually felt like she didn't have to worry. She felt safe at last, after all her life fearing that someone would try and kill her. Sure, she felt safe in Nexdis’ arms but this was different. Nexdis had a sturn and intimidating stature, Deena was more like an older sister who would watch the sunset with you.

“Aw, I think she likes you, Deena.” Hados exclaimed.

“Deena if you please, could you get her cleaned up and Urona and Devolt, go with her to get her into some clean clothes. Hados, Rynir, and Edphy prepare dinner for her. And the rest of you prepare a room for her to stay in she'll be living with us for a while until she's ready to go back down and unite the Kingdoms again.”

“Yes sir!” They all said in unison. They all rushed to get their assigned tasks done. Each God worked together to make Zara as comfortable as they could. After all, if there was one thing the Gods all agreed on it was Zara.
